The Nominating Committee is seeking nominations to the Board of Directors of the National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools. Please consider nominating one of your faculty, one of your professional staff, or yourself to the Board.

An elected director must be a full-time professional employee of an Institutional member. He or she may be a teacher, administrator, counselor, or other professional staff member. Elections will take place by electronic vote of the membership early this fall. Directors will begin their terms on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the close of the Professional Conference in San Antonio. There are eight open seats.

Board Members guide the strategy and policy of the organization. Board members are involved with strategic planning, implementation of initiatives, business issues, and education policy direction. They perform these roles by serving on standing committees. The work of the Board leads to student and professional conferences, publications, and partnerships through which the NCSSS fulfills its mission. Additionally, the work of the Board will guide the Consortium in communicating with external constituencies such as Congress and the U.S. Department of Education.

Terms are staggered so that approximately one-third of the Board Members are elected each year in an effort to maintain consistency while providing for new ideas and approaches. Board Members serve an initial term of three years, and may be reelected to serve on more term of three years.

All Board members are expected to attend four Board meetings (two of these are virtual), the annual Professional Conference, and the annual Leadership Summit. Board meetings are typically held in October (virtual); late January/early February, right before the Leadership Summit; in March/April in Washington, DC; and in June (virtual).

In nominating a candidate for the Board, your school is agreeing to support your candidate’s attendance at the in-person Board meetings each year, along with the Professional Conference and Leadership Summit each of those three years. Because NCSSS does not reimburse its Board members for travel to and at Board meetings, you are also agreeing to provide the financial support for your candidate to attend the meetings, the Professional Conference, and the Leadership Summit for all three years.
