Summer Programs Director



Due to its recent growth, the Maine School of Science and Mathematics invites applications for the following anticipated opening for the 2015-2016 school year:

Summer Programs Director: The summer programs director oversees all aspects of administration and programming for 6 weeks of kids’ camps (ages 10-14) and 1 week of STEM educators’ camp. Responsibilities include strategic planning, budgeting, communications, marketing/public relations, program development, staff recruitment/training/retention, and program implementation. MSSM Summer Camp attracts approximately 600 campers each year, with approximately 80 seasonal staff. A successful summer programs director will be highly organized, detailed oriented, and knowledgeable about best practices in STEM education.

Qualifications: A successful candidate must have at least a bachelors’ degree and must be at least 25 years in age.

Candidates must have a clear criminal history records check. Experience teaching science, technology, engineering or mathematics at the secondary level is helpful. Successful leadership experience in teaching, camp administration or business management is preferred. Enthusiasm for STEM education is a must.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience, benefits included. This position is part-time from mid-August to June, full-time through June through mid-August.

All successful candidates will exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as willingness and desire to work with high school students in a close-knit, residential community. Full time faculty members at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics are also required to advise a club or activity and to participate in MSSM's student advisory program.
