ELL/Composition (FT)


2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR

Due to its recent growth, the Maine School of Science and Mathematics invites applications for the following anticipated opening for the 2015-2016 school year:

Instructor - ELL/Composition (FT): The ELL/Composition instructor will be responsible for teaching three sections of composition and one section of composition for English Language Learners, with an emphasis on academic language and rudimentary English skills. This position may be scalable in terms of sections of composition taught if the English Language Learners need more tutoring or mentoring. Preference will be given to those with experience working with English Language Learners, though a passion for composition is essential.

Qualifications: A successful candidate must have at least two years of successful teaching experience in a formal, academic setting. Preference will be given to individuals holding a Master's Degree in English Composition or a related field. A successful candidate will exhibit a willingness and desire to help international students adjust to living away from home at a residential public high school in a foreign culture.

All successful candidates will exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as willingness and desire to work with high school students in a close-knit, residential community. Full time faculty members at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics are also required to advise a club or activity and to participate in MSSM's student advisory program.
