Director of Distance Education: The Director of Distance Education will oversee all aspects of administration and programming for MSSM’s statewide distance education outreach program. This initiative is funded through a grant from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation. Responsibilities include strategic planning, budgeting, communications, program development, implementation and sustainability. A successful Director of Distance Education will be an independent, self-starter, and knowledgeable about best practices in both distance education and middle school pedagogy.

Qualifications: A successful candidate must have an advanced degree and training/experience with Gifted & Talented education. Candidates should be proficient in technology use, including the use of excel, Microsoft office, google applications, and Canvas. Experience teaching, especially with gifted & talented students is helpful. Successful leadership experience in starting, implementing and sustaining a distance education program is ideal. Some travel to Limestone will be required.

Director of Distance Education Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 Develop and implement a sustainable business model for the delivery of distance education as outreach effort from the Maine School of Science and Mathematics

 Recruit and collaborate with interested educators to create distance education courses

 Coordinate with schools, organizations to encourage their participation in distance education program

 Develop professional development opportunities for Maine Educators

 Seek support from MSSM administrative team when needed

 Secure funding to continue the program into the 2018-2019 school year

 Develop and implement STEM enrichment courses for middle schools

 Complete and submit all necessary grant reports
