Position Title:  Director for Advancement

Position Description: The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science, one of the top high schools in America, is a public, residential high school for academically talented eleventh and twelfth grade students located on the campus of the Mississippi University for Women, Columbus, Mississippi. The Director for Advancement is primarily responsible for identifying and securing external funding and maintaining consistent, meaningful forms of engagement with all constituents.  The Director works with the MSMS Foundation staff and board to ensure a coordinated approach to securing adequate financial support for the school. The Director provides leadership and guidance for the Office of Advancement and Admissions and oversees Public Relations, Admissions, and Institutional Research.  In addition to the aforementioned, the Director performs a wide variety of administrative duties which include, but are not limited to, facilitating summer outreach programs for Mississippi students; disseminating advancement materials to external entities; coordinating media (electronic, print, radio, and television) and public relations; and serving as a liaison to the parent association, alumni association, and various community groups.  In-state travel is required. 

This position is contracted for twelve months, with full benefits included.  The reporting date will be on June 5, 2017. 


    1. Master’s Degree.  Evidence of graduate studies beyond the Master’s Degree is preferred.

    1. Grant Writing Experience
    1. Excellent written and oral communication skills
    1. Strong human relations skills
